Google Pet Pictures helps you find what looks like art for your furry friend.

Google has announced an exciting new feature for the slot Arts and Culture app: the ability to search thousands of drawings to find the same for your pet. The company says its "Pet Portraits" feature lets you photograph dogs, cats, fish, birds, reptiles, horses or rabbits, and it uses machine learning algorithms to find similar animal artwork. The process only takes a few seconds, and as a bonus, you'll be able to tap on art pieces to learn more about them. You can also record a video slideshow of your results.

I tried Pet Portraits on my cat Aslan, and the results were mixed — while the app was able to create a nice (okay, mostly tan) palette based on his fur, most of the artwork that he's used to is. Similar (as Google puts it) doesn't look like him at all.It also missed out on the most obvious look for my boys. (Although in defense I don't think Google knows my cat's name.)

This tool also lets you upload photos instead of using a live camera. This is good news if your pet is shy or if you want to experiment with different angles. You can also try a colleague's pet — perhaps using that result to reply to a fourth puppy's tweet this week. Although I didn't get good results. But it's also fun to play around with. Plus, you're just like me and don't see what your pet will look like by Monet or da Vinci drawn. You can get famous artists with your pictures.
